We will be providing a fieldworker training session on August 22, 2024, free of charge. This is fieldworker training (for only employees) not pesticide handler training. Please do not send your pesticide handlers. Individuals currently documented as trained as pesticide handlers pursuant to Title 3 of California Code of Regulations (3CCR) section 6724 are considered trained for purposes of fieldworker training.
Growers and Farm Labor Contractors are required to provide fieldworker training to their employees who may enter treated fields within 30 days after any pesticide (herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, etc.) was applied. Workers must be fully trained before entering treated fields and every year thereafter (3CCR section 6764).
California’s pesticide regulatory structure makes failure to provide this training a Class B violation because of the possible risk of adverse health effects. The fine for each violation or for each fieldworker who enters a treated field without required training in this class ranges from $250 to $1,000. Protect your employees and avoid this violation by educating your fieldworkers on pesticide safety.
Upcoming Training:
· Free registration and training.
· Training will be provided in Spanish by Pesticide Regulation inspectors as qualified trainers under EPA guidelines.
· Trainings will include a pre-exam and post-exam. The results of the exams are confidential and used only to gauge the effectiveness of the training and to support future training improvements. Reading and writing literacy is not required.
· Space is limited – each operation/company may enroll up to five employees (a waiting list will be developed for additional employees if space permits).
· Each attendee will receive a Fieldworker Verification Card after completing the training to validate attendance. Card recipients will be instructed to keep the card with them and show the card to the agricultural inspector during a fieldworker inspection.
· Training workshops last approximately two hours.
